Last month Dan and I took off for a week on Kauai with basically no plans except to lounge, eat and drive around on the crappiest roads we could find (success!). We stayed in a little cottage rental on the south shore that kept us away from the resort-y areas.
Another big mission was finding good snorkeling which took us up to the north shore, where you just wait for a t-rex to pop its head out of the foliage.
The West side of the island could not be more different, all red dirt and rusting farm equipment. The road on the West ends at Polihale Beach, an almost abandoned 17 mile stretch of sand.
The trail we hiked in Waimea canyon was PACKED with blackberry flowers, if I had just scheduled this vacation for 2 weeks later!!
Like everyone who visits, we're already plotting our return.
